Louise Manna evolved in a most unique way for Nicole Brier, the designer and mastermind behind the brand. Louise and Manna came together in a delicate story woven through the ancestry within her family names. In design, Louise, Nicole's German grandmother, speaks to her with a colorful softness in form while Manna, who represents her Italian/Argentinian grandmother Margarita ,contributes to the finery with the elegance of precision as each piece finishes with a cleverly cool edge.
Louise Manna was incorporated in 2005 and soon after acquired its legal trademark on the name. Since then designs have sold in boutiques throughout the United States and select international countries such as Kuwait, the UK and Denmark.
Nicole is a self taught jewelry designer with a BFA in fashion design from FIT. Among her explorations after graduation, she took the time to learn the multiple facets that surround the business of fashion. She freelanced as a fashion designer, worked as a designer's sales rep, and fit-modeled for clothing lines, all while she was professionally excelling as a film, TV commercial and stage actress as well as a print ad campaign model.
Multitasking became one of her strongest skills next to cultivating the thick skin necessary to launch a business. Her path was completely organic as are her processes in inspirations for design. The luxurious drape of fabric on the body is the underlying voice of each jewelry collection. Nicole fuses her knowledge of clothing construction and conventional jewelry-making techniques into creating pieces as wearable art that have a look and feel of fabric on the body.
The absence of what is missing and needed to refresh our lives ultimately inspires Louise Manna in jewelry. In 2006, Nicole discovered a refreshing new concept to incorporate in her designs. It began with a line of stretch lace belts that showcased at Henri Bendel’s as a gorgeous accessory with options in multiple ways to wear it. Ever since then, she has directed her design craft towards filling that exciting niche in jewelry as well, thus creating her versatile bodice wear.
The distinction in the vision of Louise Manna is Nicole’s conviction in creating practicality and longevity in a product which supersedes the limitations of trend. In thinking outside the box of common looking jewelry along with the focus on innovative concepts for design, Nicole Brier tailors her abstract perspective to fit within realism. On the leading edge, Louise Manna contributes versatility in alluring and wearable jewelry as illustrated in her Art for the Body collection.
